A Year with Max Von Deadlock
So this post concludes the first year of Max Von Deadlock’s Miniature Madness!
It’s been loads of fun and extremely satisfying keeping the blog here on WordPress, who were kind enough to furnish me with some summary stats for 2010.
Thanks to you, the reader
364 days ago, when I set up the blog up, I really wasn’t expecting anyone to actually read it!
Well, according to the folks at WordPress we got a total of 5,900 views in this first year. Wow.
So I must take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s taken the time to read my ramblings. It’s really inspiring to know that people are stopping by and it certainly strengthens my resolve to post more frequently, and more interestingly!
Keeping it up
Apparently I made 65 posts, which averages out at over 1 a week.
This pleases me.
I’ve said before round these parts that I’m acutely aware of my tendency to get excited about the next shiny new thing and not really finish stuff off. So I’m really proud of the fact that I kept this thing going. And enjoy it every bit as much now as I did a year ago.
Make War, not Paint
I’ve had a full breakdown of the number of views by blog entry and, though most people came straight to the homepage for the latest post (perhaps through an email subscription?), when they were looking for anything specific it was usually a battle report. The number one read was that Battle Report I did of my (sadly one and only to date) Flames of War game.
So, I shall have to do more of those to keep you all happy (and play more FoW, hear that James?).
Especially battle reports with pics ‘n graphics ‘n stuff. I like the pretty pictures.
Looking forward to 2011
I often say that I don’t make New Years resolutions. But this past couple of years I guess I kinda have.
One of my resolutions for 2011 is to take things to the next level on the blog. I’m wary of making promises – in case I don’t keep them – but here’s what I’m aiming to do:
1. Post more frequently. If I can post about twice a week then I’d hit 100 posts for the year. Sounds like a nice round target, huh? Of course, more posting implies more painting/playing. It’s a nice little virtuous circle, that.
2. Vary the content. I’ve started my first tutorial – Odalisque post two is still coming I promise, I’m just working out colour schemes on a test mini which I will share in the next few days – and I’d like to do more of that sort of thing. I’d also like to get more games in and share write-ups as I said above. I may even extend coverage to some miniature-based boardgames (I’m a sucker for Ameritrash!)
If anyone has any requests or recommendations I’d love to hear them, by the way. Or even just to tell me what you think of the blog. Seeing comments come in really is a thrill. It’s like getting an unexpected parcel!
So, there we have it. It’s been an enjoyable year here on the blog, and I’m really looking forward to another one.
Thanks again.
Max
Hey, well done on keeping this blog going for a year. I have been reading through it since I saw your Malifaux models down at the club for the tournament in November.
This blog has actually made me start my own blog to keep track of all my Malifaux models and projects.
So thanks.
Looking forward to want 2011 brings.

Definitely keep up the good work! Since I don’t get to play that often it’s great to read the battle reports and see how your games went, definitely more of the same this year! 🙂

Cheers Rich. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it. You’ve not got Jayme into Malifaux yet then?
